Why blog at 2025?

It’s 2025, and here I am considering launching a blog site into a world already overflowing with content. So, the natural question is: Why?

The answer is simple, I love learning - whether it’s development, DevOps, security, AI, architecture, team collaboration, agile methods - I’m always curious how we build and operator modern systems. But learning passively isn’t enough anymore. I want to push myself to gain deeper understading of these technologies and methods. And what better way to do that than by writing about them.

So why blog, and not a vlog?

Mostly, it’s personal. I’ve always preferred reading and writing over watching videos. I can absorb information faster through text. Yes, AI tools transcribe videos now, but for me writing blog posts like structured notes helps me reflect and retain what I’ve learned. If I ever produce a video, it’ll be supplement, not the main thing.

Blogging is also simpler to manage. A few megabytes of text can hold a ton of knowledge, compared to gigabytes of video content. Plus, I own my writing. With video, you’re often at the mercy of the platforms. For an example, it is very easy to get flagged by song in you video even though you have all the copyrights for it. Text content is searchable, minimal and under full control.

I think written content is still one of the most efficient ways to learn. I grew up in a time when every megabyte of internet cost money. Books, magazines and articles were way to go. And still today, nothing beats skimming through a blog post to find exactly what you need, when you need it. That is nearly impossible with the video.

Let’s be honest, a lot of tech videos age fast. They’re often surface level intros to trends, and the deeper ones tend to be long and hard to search. I’d rather build small, lasting knowledge assets. Mostly for myself, but if it helps someone else too, that’s a bonus.

And finally, I’m not doing this to chase clicks or go viral. I’m doing this to learn better, think clearer and share openly. In case someone else is on the same path, I might be helpful for them.
